CODE OF CONDUCT
Purpose
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour, integrity, and professionalism expected of all individuals associated with Global Energy Perspectives UK.
It ensures that the organisation operates:

With independence and integrity
In a manner that maintains trust with partners, funders, and the wider public

This Code applies to:
Directors
Members
Executive Director
Employees
Consultants
Advisory Council members
All individuals are expected to comply with this Code while acting on behalf of the Company.
Core Principles
All individuals must act in accordance with the following principles:

Act honestly, ethically, and in good faith
Avoid conduct that could damage the organisation’s reputation or credibility
🔹 Independence & Objectivity
Safeguard the independence of research, analysis, and public commentary
Ensure conclusions and outputs are evidence-based and free from undue influence

Place the mission and objects of Global Energy Perspectives above personal or commercial interests
Ensure that activities contribute positively to public understanding and policy discourse

Be accountable for actions and decisions
Communicate openly and transparently with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders
Professional Conduct
All individuals must:
Perform their roles with diligence, competence, and professionalism
Treat colleagues, partners, and stakeholders with respect and fairness
Uphold equality, diversity, and inclusion in all activities
Avoid discriminatory, harassing, or abusive behaviour
Conflicts of Interest
Individuals must comply with the Conflict of Interest Policy
All actual, potential, or perceived conflicts must be declared promptly
Conflicted individuals must not participate in related decision-making
Confidentiality & Information Handling
Respect the confidentiality of sensitive or non-public information
Use information only for legitimate organisational purposes
Comply with applicable data protection and privacy requirements
Use of the Organisation’s Name & Reputation
The name, brand, and reputation of Global Energy Perspectives must be used responsibly
Individuals must not:
Misrepresent the organisation’s views
Use the organisation for personal or political gain
Make unauthorised public statements on behalf of the organisation
Only authorised individuals may speak publicly on behalf of the Company.
Research Integrity & Ethics
Research activities must adhere to high standards of:
Accuracy
Transparency
Methodological rigour
Funding sources and partnerships must be disclosed where appropriate
Plagiarism, misrepresentation, or manipulation of data is prohibited
Compliance with Laws & Policies
All individuals must:
Comply with relevant laws and regulations
Adhere to the Company’s policies, including:
Conflict of Interest Policy
Data Protection policies
Safeguarding and equality policies (where applicable)
Breaches of the Code
Suspected breaches should be reported to the Chair or Executive Director
Breaches may result in:
Informal resolution
Formal warning
Removal from role, where appropriate
Review & Adoption
This Code shall be reviewed periodically by the Board
Amendments require Board approval
